Product Overview

As the roman numeral "V" in the name suggests, AMP-V contains 5 different active ingredients including Safflower Oil, Pomegranate Seed Oil, Coconut Oil, Peppermint Oil & Grapefruit Peel Oil. AMP-V contains only active ingredients with no sweeteners, colours, flavours or fillers of any kind. Each 2ml serve contains 1.8 grams of fat, with negligible amounts of protein and carbohydrates. Unfortunately for the consumer, ATP Science has hidden the actual amount of each active ingredient behind a proprietary blend, and with 5 active ingredients contained in each 2ml serve, it is impossible to determine how much of each active ingredient AMP-V actually contains.

AMP-V is designed to help oxidise fatty acids and release stored body fat, whilst simultaneously providing performance related benefits including increases in strength, endurance, and explosive muscle power. The formula boasts additional benefits including the suppression of appetite and the reduction of adipokines, which contribute to insulin resistance and estrogen dominance.

The science behind AMP-V derives from the knowledge of human energy systems during exercise, which must be understood in order to appreciate how AMP-V has been designed to work.

The first source of energy the body will use during exercise is the phosphate energy system, which supplies approximately ten seconds worth of energy using Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP) as the fuel source. This energy system is ideal for those partaking in short bursts of physical activity, such as interval sprints or high load resistance based exercise. Once the ATP fuel source is depleted, lactic acid levels increase in muscles which results in fatigue and a reduction in exercise intensity. When this occurs, the lipolysis energy system comes in to play and provides energy by breaking down fats to release fatty acids from foods or fat cells. This energy system however, can only provide energy for approximately 65% of maximal physical effort; so while it is not an ideal source of energy for exercise that requires maximal physical effort, it is an important energy system that should be utilized by those wanting to lose body fat.

The inclusion of Peppermint Oil in AMP-V strategically induces lipolysis by ensuring adequate oxygen levels are present to reduce lactate production and therefore liberate fatty acids for energy during exercise. Peppermint Oil also confuses the nervous system by inducing a perceived drop in body temperature. As a result, the body increases heat production from fat, resulting in increased thermogenesis. Finally, Peppermint Oil has also been shown to have positive effects on cognition and exercise performance.

Similarly, Grapefruit Peel Oil has also been shown to increase lipolysis and thermogenesis, whilst simultaneously reducing appetite, increasing fatty acid mobilization, and improving insulin sensitivity.

Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA), yielding from Safflower Oil, is also included in the AMP-V formula, which assists the release of fatty acids and activates cell mitochondria, encouraging them to use these fatty acids as energy. CLA has been shown to influence and upregulate receptors responsible for the metabolism of glucose and lipids (fats). Interestingly, CLA can help to induce fat loss without concurrent weight loss, signifying its ability to burn body fat whilst increasing lean muscle mass. Finally, CLA has also been shown to possess anti-inflammatory properties.

Pomegranate Seed Oil also appears in the AMP-V formula yielding Conjugated Linolenic Acid (CLnA), which converts into CLA in the body, but also increases carbohydrate oxidative capacity and reduces insulin resistance in its own right. Pomegranate Seed Oil also contains a high proportion of Punicic Acid which has been shown to lower fasted glucose levels and activate a variety of genes which increase fatty acid uptake and utilization. Other demonstrated benefits of Pomegranate Seed Oil include reducing gut inflammation and upregulation of carnitine activity; the amino acid responsible for transferring fatty acids into cells to be used as energy.

Finally, Coconut Oil, yielding medium chain triglycerides (MCTs), provides a fast source of energy that is able to be broken down more readily than other fat sources. MCTs bypass adipose tissue making them less susceptible to storage as body fat, while increasing fat oxidation and energy expenditure.

It must be noted that due to the proprietary nature of the AMP-V formula, it is impossible to know whether any of these 5 ingredients have been appropriately and efficaciously dosed in order to produce their desired effects. Furthermore, the amibiguity of the label regarding dosage directions may leave consumers feeling rather confused about when to take AMP-V, and how much AMP-V is required to be taken per day for best results.

Taste & Mixability

AMP-V contains 100% active ingredients: there are no colours, flavours, sweeteners or fillers. There is an interesting and unique taste to the product as a result of the natural properties of each of the oils, but it is by no means unpleasant. The peppermint oil is the most prominent flavour, providing a fresh, minty taste. As AMP-V is an oil based supplement, it does not mix with water, so it best taken straight in the mouth using the provided pipette.

Research on the 5 ingredients contained in AMP-V suggest that AMP-V is best taken before exercise, ideally in a fasted state to encourage the oxidation of fatty acids for energy. When taken before fasted cardio, users can expect to experience an increase in energy and an increase in endurance. When taken before resistance based exercise, users can expect to experience an increase in performance and and increase in muscular endurance as the ability of the lipoysis energy system to provide longer lasting energy is increased.

So far as fat loss is concerned, AMP-V should form the basis of a comprehensive fat loss supplementation strategy; ideally being stacked with Acetyl-L-Carnitine and a good thermogenic supplement to help mobilize fatty acids from stored body fat and increase energy expenditure. Of course, the most important factor of any fat loss regime is maintaining a caloric deficit (where caloric output exceeds caloric input) for a sustained period of time; provided this is achieved, AMP-V has the potential to greatly assist in the reduction of body fat.
