What’s your “Why”? What’s your overarching motivation to do what you do?

So many of us fall into the trap of becoming distracted by short term motivations… money, career progression, fitness goals… superficial “success” in whatever form it takes at a given point in time.

The problem with only having short term motivations is that they are short term. They come and go.

Which is why we all go through periods of high short term motivation that are almost always followed by periods of low to zero short term motivation, usually immediately after a goal has been achieved.

Knowing your “Why”… your overarching long term motivation will allow you to zoom out, grab some perspective, and push through shit periods of low short term motivation.

I encourage you to spend some time thinking about your “Why”

Identify it.

Write it down.

Protect it.

And revisit it whenever life gets you down. 

Because knowing your “Why” will always pull you through.
