Caffeine is a stimulant that affects the central nervous system (CNS). It is the world's most commonly consumed, legal psychoactive drug. Caffeine promotes spinal cord excitability as well as recruiting more motor fibers, which can reduce the sensation of muscular pain and fatigue. It is one of the most frequently used stimulant in pre-workouts, fat burners and some branched chain amino acids. Some side effects of caffeine in excess amounts can be dehydration, headaches and the shakes. Be sure to hydrate after consuming caffeine as it is a diuretic. If sleeping becomes an issue when consuming higher amounts of caffeine it would be best to reduce daily consumption; everybody is different and metabolise caffeine at different rates.
