Casein Protein

Casein is the main source of protein found in Milk, second to Whey. The difference between Casein and Whey is that casein is considered a slow-digesting protein. Slow-digesting means that it takes the body longer to metabolise and break down the proteins consumed. Studies suggest that those who consume casein before bed had achieved a greater metabolic rate, a more favourable body composition ratio and experienced increased satiety. Casein contains all essential, non-essential and branched chain amino acids. Given how slow it digests, it is ideal to be taken prior to sleeping to ensure muscles have a source of nutrients during the night, when you are fasting while asleep. It can also be used during the day if you are unable to consume your meals frequently.
